Urinary symptoms and diary

Answer seven questions, assess the effect on your quality of life separately, and complete the diary. The result will help you describe your symptoms more accurately during an in-person consultation.

How to use

The score measures symptoms; it does not establish a diagnosis

Seven clinical domains and the standard IPSS scoring system of 0–35 are used. The wording on this page is the author's own; it is not an officially validated Russian-language form.

The same total score may occur with different causes. The result is therefore interpreted alongside the diary, tests, residual urine, prostate volume and examination.

  • First complete the shared warning-sign screen
  • Answer based on your usual condition over the past month
  • Complete the diary over three ordinary days and save it as a PDF

Data first. Decisions next

Assessment of urinary symptoms

Seven questions help organise symptoms according to the clinical domains of IPSS. This is the author's indicative form, not an official Russian-language questionnaire or a diagnosis.

Step 1Is there a dangerous symptom now?
Over the last month

Answer based on your usual condition, not one particularly good or bad day. Each question is scored from 0 to 5.

01After urinating, you feel that your bladder has not emptied completely
02You need to urinate again less than two hours after the previous time
03The stream stops and starts again while urinating
04The urge is sometimes so urgent that it is difficult to postpone
05Your urine stream seems weak
06You have to strain to start or continue urinating
07How many times do you usually get up during the night to urinate?
QoLIf your current urination remains unchanged, how would you feel about it?

Data, rather than impressions

Three-day bladder diary

Record the time, urine volume and fluid intake, urgency and night-time trips to the toilet. Three ordinary days are enough; your answers stay only in this browser.

Urgency: 0 — none; 1 — can easily defer; 2 — difficult to defer; 3 — unable to hold urine. The diary does not establish a diagnosis.

Methodological basis

Verifiable medical communication

The guides explain findings based on current guidelines, but do not give a diagnosis, select an operation or prescribe medicines. Links open the primary documents on which the logic is based.
